SAINT CATHERINE
She lived in Alexandria during the persecution of Christians, during the
reign of ((Maximinus)), Rome tortured her severally because of her faith
to Christianity finally she was beheaded in 307 A.D.
-Five centuries later a monk saw a vision in which her body was carried
by angles to the top of a mountain in Sinai; therefore they moved her
body to the church and the monastery known by her name.

Drive from cairo to saint Catherine with private car.
1ST stop before Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel in EL-Suze(( 140 k.m )) from
cairo , this tunnel connect between mother land EGYPT and Sinai .
2ND stop in Moses springs ( which consist of water springs and palm
trees ) located their since the time of messenger Moses.Arrive saint
Catherine ,Dinner.
Clam Moses's mountain((which Moses received the ten commandments on
it)), ( 2285 m.h ) at 1:30 am, about 3 hours to clam the mountain to
see sun rise at the top of mountain.

It is situated to the foot of Sinai mountain; It is similar to the

1-The Transfiguration church.
In 530 A.D Emperor Justinian built it and it also known by the great
church ((THE CATHEDRAL)) it's considering one of the oldest churches in
Egypt.
2-The Chapel of the Burning Bush.
In 330 A.D Helena mother of Emperor Constantine ordered a chapel to be
built on the traditional site of Burning Bush.
3-Moses's well.
Inside the wall of the monastery there are many wells the most fame
Moses's well & Bush well and st.stephen's well.
4-Al-Amer Bahkam Allah Mosque.
It was built during the ((Fatimid period)) in 500 A.H during the the
time of Caliph AL-Amer Bahkam Allah.
5-The library.
It's on the 3RD floor of an old building south to the great church.
It's important since it contain a big number of decrees offered by
Caliph to mosque.
6-The oil press.
It's for squeezing olives to extract the oil; it's situated below the
mosque.
7-The Garden.
In front of the monastery there are a garden including a cemetery of the
monks and a skull house for their heads after died.
