Visit the Pyramids of Giza, home to the mummies of three pharaohs. Cheops, also referred to as Kufu, is the first pharaoh to be mummified and his mummy rests in the first pyramid. The mummy of his son, Chephren, is in the central pyramid of Giza, located nearby the Valley Temple. The smallest pyramid houses the remains of Mykerinus (Mykerinos) who was later considered to be a benevolent and wise king compared to his successors.

The tour will go on to the Great Sphinx, a wondrous structure created from a single piece of stone forming the head of a pharaoh with the body of a lion.

After seeing these amazing structures, move on to Memphis, capital of Old Egypt and considered to be the center of rule and culture for over 3000 years. See the Step Pyramids of Zoser, built around 2630 BC for King Djoser, making it the world’s oldest major stone structure, an idea of the pharoah’s architect, Imhotep, as a way to better please the gods. Finally, admire the statue of Ramses II, believed to be the Pharaoh during the Exodus.
